Introducing myself and my approach to psychotherapy

Greetings, dear reader! I am thrilled to welcome you to my virtual space, where the power of words converges with the art of healing. I am Sonnie_ a dedicated Graduate Psychology Student committed to guiding individuals on their transformative journey towards self-discovery and well-being.

The Path to Becoming a Therapist:

My own journey into the world of psychotherapy began with a deep-rooted passion for understanding the complexities of the human mind and the innate desire to support others in their quest for mental and emotional wellness. I have a legal background but I found myself needing psychotherapy support in the year 2018 to help me navigate a painful life transition. I then decided to enroll in Graduate School to study Counselling Psychology. That two year period of study has armed me with a solid educational foundation and I am now writing my Thesis as I undertake my Practicum in a Clinical Site in my country. As I embark on the path to becoming a licensed therapist, I am eager to contribute to the lives of those seeking positive change and I would like my readers to walk with me in this journey.

My Philosophy and Approach:

My therapeutic philosophy is based on the idea that every person has innate resilience and strength. In my view, therapy is a cooperative process involving mutual exploration on both of our parts to maximize your potential for development and healing. I use an integrative approach, incorporating mindfulness exercises, psychodynamic techniques, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), among other therapeutic modalities.

I value the individuality of every person’s experiences and want to provide a safe, accepting environment where you feel free to express yourself. My goal is to assist you in gaining understanding of your thoughts, feelings, and actions by means of sympathetic listening and understanding. 

A Holistic Well-being:

Apart from attending to pressing issues, I firmly think that holistic well-being should be promoted. This entails investigating the relationship between the mind and body as well as implementing self-care and balance-promoting activities. We can investigate methods for stress management, improving self-awareness, and developing a positive outlook on life together.

The Therapeutic Relationship:

The quality of the therapeutic relationship is essential to successful therapy. My approach to our interactions is one of warmth, genuineness, and a sincere desire to see you grow. Building trust is essential, and I am committed to fostering an atmosphere where you feel appreciated, heard, and understood.
