36 Lessons I’ve Learned in 2024

As we count down the final 36 days of this year, I can’t help but reflect on the whirlwind that 2024 has been. If I had to sum it up, I’d say it’s been a year of “shege mixed with wahala,” but also of immense growth, fulfillment, and revelation.

This year taught me some of the toughest yet most transformative lessons, and I want to share 36 of them with you—one for every remaining day of the year.

1. Resilience is a skill you build in the trenches.

You don’t wake up one day resilient; life will train you through its trials.

2. Patience is not passive.

It’s about trusting the process, even when nothing seems to be moving.

3. Gratitude transforms your perspective.

Learning to say thank you even in difficulty has been my lifeline.

4. Authenticity attracts the right people.

When I stopped performing and showed up as myself, I found the connections that truly mattered.

5. Choose yourself unapologetically.

If you don’t prioritize you, no one else will.

6. Boundaries are not selfish.

They’re essential for your mental health and growth.

7. Speak to yourself kindly.

I learned to be my own cheerleader, speaking to myself as I would a dear friend.

8. Faith requires surrender.

I’ve had to learn to let go and trust God completely.

9. Waiting is where miracles grow.

The in-between moments are where transformation happens.

10. Family is everything.

This year reminded me to cherish those closest to me.

11. True friendships are rare treasures.

I’ve leaned on my friends in ways I never thought possible, and they showed up.

12. Getting out of your comfort zone is worth it.

Building an online brand on LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok terrified me, but here I am!

13. You have something to offer the world.

Every voice matters, including mine—and yours.

14. Grace is a gift you give yourself.

I’ve learned to forgive myself over and over again.

15. Confidence is a journey.

It grows as you choose yourself repeatedly.

16. Self-reflection is powerful.

Journaling has been my safe space for uncovering truths about myself.

17. Waiting is hard, but it’s worth it.

Patience brought clarity and direction.

18. Social media is a tool—use it wisely.

This year, I turned platforms into spaces of value and connection.

19. Saying no is an act of love.

You can’t pour from an empty cup.

20. Growth comes through discomfort.

The hardest moments this year stretched me the most.

21. Celebrate small wins.

Every little step forward matters.

22. Spiritual growth requires intention.

Prayer, Bible study, and reflection kept me grounded.

23. You are not your mistakes.

I’ve learned to separate my worth from my failures.

24. Healing is a journey, not a destination.

I’m learning to give myself time and space to heal.

25. Share your story—it matters.

This year, I embraced storytelling as a way to connect and inspire.

26. Community is everything.

You can’t do life alone; find your tribe.

27. Dream big, even if it scares you.

I’ve dared to think beyond what I thought possible.

28. Rest is productive.

Burnout taught me to prioritize rest and recovery.

29. Financial planning is freedom.

I’ve learned the power of budgeting and saving for my future goals.

30. Perfection is an illusion.

I’ve learned to aim for progress instead of perfection.

31. Be present.

Life is happening now—don’t miss it.

32. Seek wisdom.

Mentorship and learning have been game-changers for me this year.

33. Trust the process.

Even when you can’t see the end, keep moving forward.

34. Extend kindness—always.

To yourself and to others; it goes a long way.

35. Take risks.

You’ll never know what you’re capable of until you try.

36. Value what matters.

At the end of the day, my relationship with God, family, and true friends are what count most.

This year has been one of the most challenging but also the most fulfilling. As I prepare to close 2024, I’ve decided to start a Life Planning Series—a tool that has been pivotal in helping me navigate this year.
